Privacy notice
Your writing stays yours.
Last updated 4 October 2026
The short version. The Kolophon app collects nothing: no account, no analytics, no tracking, and your writing never leaves your devices through Kolophon. This website collects only what you type into its two forms — your email, if you join the waitlist, and your message, if you write to us.
Who we are
Kolophon is made by Kollektive AI (Pty) Ltd. For anything about your information, write to support@kollektive.ai or to 109 Leeuwkop Rd, 179 The Kanyin, Johannesburg, 2191, South Africa.
The Kolophon app
- No account. You don’t sign in to use Kolophon, and we don’t know who uses it.
- Your writing stays on your device. Your stories, plans, notes and tasks are stored as files in the app’s own folder on your Mac, iPad or iPhone. We never receive them.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking. The app contains no analytics or advertising code and makes no network requests of its own.
- The assistant runs on your device. Kolophon’s assistant uses Apple’s on-device language model through Apple Intelligence. Kolophon doesn’t send your text anywhere to do this. Apple Intelligence itself is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
- Notifications are local. If you allow them, Kolophon schedules reminders — the end of a writing session, a deadline — on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
- Exports go where you put them. When you export a book or share a file, it goes only to the place you choose.
- Crash reports, if you allow them. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may share crash reports and basic usage statistics with us. Apple collects these, not Kolophon, and you can turn them off under Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
If we ever add syncing between your devices, it will go through your own iCloud account, and we’ll update this notice before it ships.
This website
- No cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. The site loads no third-party fonts, trackers or embeds.
- Hosting. The site is served by GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub records technical logs, including IP addresses, for security; see GitHub’s privacy statement.
- The waitlist. If you join it, we keep your email address and which form you used. We use it for one thing: to tell you when Kolophon is available. We rely on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by writing to us; we’ll delete your address.
- The support form. If you write to us, we keep your name (if you give it), your email address, the topic and your message, to reply and to help you. We keep messages for as long as we need them to help you, and no longer than two years.
- Where it’s stored. Waitlist addresses and messages are stored with Supabase, our database provider. Supabase and GitHub may keep information on servers outside South Africa, under their own security and privacy commitments. We don’t sell, share or rent your information to anyone.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to support@kollektive.ai and we’ll answer within a month. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to South Africa’sInformation Regulator, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Kolophon and this website aren’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this notice and the date at the top. Questions? See the support page.
